A New-ish Business
By Susan Flansburg
Alan and I have always been a team. I began editing him before we went out on our first date, when we both worked at WQAD-TV. He, in turn, became my first reader for everything I wrote. Still is.
In a sense, Flansburg-Sivell Communications has been around as long as we’ve been a couple. It’s a good union! Our strengths are complementary. He’s diplomatic, for instance, and I’m … direct. He comes out of news writing, video work and academia. I come out of marketing, feature writing, online and print media, and - as I’m fond of saying - “anything with words.”
We’ve made many friends in the business over the years, collaborating with extraordinary communications professionals in videography, graphic design, web development, and photography. We plan to keep tapping into their talents!
And we’re launching this new-ish venture by adopting a fledgling Quad-City nonprofit. The Quad City Yoga Federation will receive complementary marketing and communications support for the next year. It’s got a great 3-fold mission:
To bring yoga into QC-area schools,
To offer yoga to formerly incarcerated persons as they begin to integrate back into the community, and
To raise money for scholarships for persons who cannot afford to take yoga classes.
Thanks to Jerry Logan for this sweet family photo!
