FSC Helps Launch New Quad-City Nonprofit
By Susan Flansburg
When Alan Sivell and I launched Flansburg-Sivell Communications, we decided to gift our skills and talents to one nonprofit a year.
This year’s organization was Quad Cities Yoga Foundation, a wonderful choice.
QCYF is a unique and helpful charitable organization, founded to bring the life skills and peace of yoga to underserved Quad Citians, including school children, those exiting jails and drug rehabs, and those who cannot afford to pay for yoga classes.
Mandle Design worked on the website, and Giraffe Photography took some great photos.
I hope you’ll take a look at the organization, and volunteer with them if you are so moved. Here’s why, according to research:
1. Yoga enhances school kids’ self esteem, academic performance, and joy.
2. Yoga provides a foot forward as those exiting jails and drug rehabs reintegrate into society.
3. Yoga reduces the stress and anxiety of living in poverty, while nourishing the well being needed to thrive.
In other words, the people QCYF helps are the people who need it most. And they are our neighbors!
Alan and I are grateful to have been able to help launch it.
Namaste.
