Raising Money for Preterm Babies

By Susan Flansburg

Morgan Jacqueline sounds like a newborn kitten. Muffled. Muted. Almost unnoticeable.

Morgan is crying as loud as she can.

Born seven weeks early, this tiny girl needs help breathing. Eating. Keeping warm.

Staying alive.

Morgan may have been tiny when this story was written, but she was a powerful fundraiser for Trinity Health Foundation!

That’s because we are wired to love stories. We grow to love the people in the stories, and want to know how they turn out. We are often motivated to help.

Specialized equipment is critical to Morgan’s survival: the isolette, humidity and heat control, breathing equipment, infection control.

Most of all, though, she needs you. Your gift helps equip her with what she needs to survive.

Morgan was blessed with the help she needed, thanks in part to the generosity of donors.

As for the rest of the story?

Morgan and her mom, Jackie, can touch, at last. The baby has snuggled into her mom. Jackie has tears streaming down her cheeks.

“Hi, Baby Girl,” Jackie whispers. “I’ve been waiting for you.”

The neonatal staff nods. That’s what it’s all about.

Successful fundraising starts with great storytelling.

I loved writing Morgan and Jackie’s story. It still moves me to tears.

I am so grateful I was able to help raise the funds needed for this kind of success.
